A FORMER soldier from Chirk was jailed last week for supplying class A drugs.
Former Welsh Fusilier Stephen Richards, 36, of St Mary's Close, Chirk was arrested on Christmas Day last year and was jailed for three years and nine months after he admitted supplying cocaine between December 2006 and December 2007.

Mold Crown Court last week heard that Richards spent on average £500 a week on cocaine and cannabis.

Judge John Rogers QC explained that Richards would have needed to sell in excess of £25,000 to pay for it.

Richards admitted possessing cocaine and cannabis resin with intent to supply when police entered his home and smelled the cannabis.

A large block of cannabis resin was found at the address and Richards told the officers it was for his own personal use.

Further searches found £300 in cash, more drugs and paraphernalia.
Tom Morgan Jones, prosecuting, said: "He told the police the first thing he did when he woke up in the morning was to smoke cannabis."

He had been using cocaine for four years and had been addicted for less than a year.
