AN ELDERLY Whittington man whose home was burgled is thought to have died just days later.
The man, who was in his 80s, was in the bathroom as an intruder entered his home and stole his wallet from a cabinet between about 8.45am and 10am on Thursday, May 1.

On Sunday, May 4, police officers returned to the house in Plas Cerrig Close after reports that the man had been found collapsed.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

At this stage, police do not believe his death is linked to the earlier burglary.

A post mortem examination and formal investigation is pending.
Constable Stuart Peters, who is investigating the burglary, appealed for anyone who might have information to come forward.

He said: "The victim had left the door unlocked as he had a number of carers who came and went, and we believe the offender entered and stole the wallet.

"Sadly, a man who we believe to be the victim, has now passed away but we are continuing to investigate the burglary."
