AFTER polishing off the Old Gold last Saturday, City supremo Nev Powell wants the Bangor’s 12th man to help down Airbus at Farrar Road tomorrow night (7.30pm).
The Blues’ first win at Carmarthen since 2005 came courtesy of Dave Morley’s fourth successful spotkick of the campaign, and the Citizens plan to keep flying high at the top of division by beating the Wingmakers.
With three wins in four the Airfield side sit second in the embryonic Welsh Premier League table behind Powell’s 100 per-centers, but Bangor hope the support of the Farrar Road faithful will help them on their way to a fifth straight win.
Powell said: “Obviously Airbus have brought in new players and had a good start like ourselves, so our players will go out on Friday night and give them the respect they deserve.
“It’s important that we get a big crowd to act as the 12th man and get behind us.
“The crowds so far against Neath and Llanelli have been excellent, and they have not just came to watch but also to get involved with chanting and singing, which is a real boost for the players.”
Last Saturday’s Richmond Park win kept the Citizens top of the shop, and Powell was delighted with the result.
“We did well, battled hard and got three points,” he said.
“We were pleased with the win and our gritty performance from the players on a difficult pitch, as we hadn’t won there since 2005.”
However despite the great start, the City chief is keen to keep his side’s feet on the ground for the visit of the Wingmakers.
He added: “If we’re top of the league after ten games then we’ll start talking but with only four games gone it’s too early to think about it.
“There’s a great spirit amongst the players right now and they’re all in it together.
“I think the European games have played a big part in this as the squad is fully fit and they’re all raring to go for tomorrow night.”
