THE NEW Saints head out to Bulgaria this week with the bit between their teeth after their opening day 5-2 win over Prestatyn Town in the Welsh Premier League.
Saints play the first leg of their Europa League play-off on Thursday night, for a place in the money spinning group stages of the competition where they could meet any one of a number of glittering opponents.
A good result in the first leg against Bulgarian League runners-up, CSKA Sofia, would leave The Saints in prime position for the return fixture at Wrexham's Racecourse ground next week, and manager, Mike Davies, is backing his side to put on another impressive European performance.
"Everything is on course and we are as prepared as we can be for the game. We will go over there now and try and acclimatise quickly and look forward to the game," said Davies.
Recent performances show that TNS have a good chance of progression if they are able to hold CSKA Sofia at bay in the early parts of the game.
Saints have grown in confidence as games have worn on against superior opposition in their matches so far.
This time they will be hoping to hit the ground running against the 31 time Bulgarian Champions, who by their own standards, have fallen on hard times in recent years.
Sofia are currently in under the reign of their fifth manager in just two years, and TNS will be hoping to profit from the instability at the club, and further their own European dream.
Davies said: "We are big underdogs and we are under no illusions but they are no Anderlecht. They haven't started brightly in their league, and their discipline is also a bit of problem."
"We can take positives from that and give it our best shot. We have watched some videos and I went to see them last week so let's see what we can do.
"The main thing for us ideally is to get the away goal and make sure we keep their score down so we've got to make sure we are focused on the task.
"The humidity could be difficult and we can expect a hostile atmosphere but the lads are experienced and I'm sure we'll adapt," he added.
