A BUSINESSMAN and friend of the McFall family has declined to comment on national media speculation surrounding their deaths.

Over the weekend the national press carried claims that Mr McFall’s contract with Stans had been terminated in the days leading up to the tragedy.

According to the reports a book-keeper at the firm had found ‘irregularities’ in the flower seller’s dealings with the store.

However Stans would not comment on the claims.

Mr Andrew Faulks, joint owner of Stans Superstore at St Martins, declined to comment on reports that the flower wholesaler had his contract with his store cancelled just before the tragic murders and suicide.

“In respect for the family we don’t want to comment on anything which happened beforehand,” Mr Faulks said.

An earlier statement issued on behalf of Stans Superstore owners, Rob, Peter and Andrew Faulks said Hugh McFall and his wife, Sue, were not just suppliers, but close friends with whom they had holidayed just last year in Cyprus.

It read: “We have known Hugh McFall as a supplier and family friend for many years. We have known his family well and have socialised with them and only last year holidayed with Hugh and Sue.

“Hugh has been our supplier for bedding plants and flowers for many years. We were all shocked at what has happened and our thoughts are with his family and what they must be going through.”

A member of Mrs McFall’s extended family said they remained too upset to talk about what happened.

“Everyone is still deep in shock,” she said.

Police have confirmed that Hugh McFall was not the subject of any police investigation prior to his death.
