A HANDFUL of acts have been confirmed for Oswestry’s first weekend-camping music festival.
Indie outfits Reverend and The Makers, The Holloways and Vagabond were named as just three of the acts lined up for OsFest 2010, which will take place on May 29 and 30 on Oswestry Showground.
With the rest of the line-up being kept under-wraps by festival organisers 7th Sense Events Management, ticket-holders will have to wait to find out who else will be taking to the stage over the weekend.
7th Sense Management has promised “internationally renowned” acts will appear alongside local talent and say they have been in discussions with acts such as Tinchy Stryder and Calvin Harris.
First of the confirmed acts, Reverend and The Makers (affectionately known as The Reverend by their fans) are an indie act from Sheffield who had chart success with their single Heavyweight Champion of the World.
Airplay
The Holloways, another band of indie-rockers, hail from North London and have received considerable airplay of their single Generator on BBC Radio 1.
Rounding off the trio, Vagabond are a London-based five-piece outfit described as an R&B guitar band, currently signed to major label Geffen Records in the UK.
Dance act Booty Luv, whose hits include Some Kind of Rush have also been confirmed for the weekend.
Making up the local contingent, 7th Sense has also confirmed chav-punks The Kayas and rockers Shameless Faith for Osfest.
Spokesperson Hannah Davies said: “We are extremely pleased with the initial response since OsFest went live last week, we have been overwhelmed with interest and inquiries.
“Any local bands interested in performing at OsFest should send demos to the OsFest office, these will then be considered to compete in The Battle of the Bands at The Ironworks in March”
Special ‘early bird’ tickets, discounted by 20 per cent for local people are said to be selling fast.
