CLUBBERS from across the region were revved up to the sounds of Ibiza after a host of the world-class DJs descended on Liverpool last month.
Sven Vath's famous Cocoon night heated up ravers at Nation, on Wolstenholme Square, Liverpool, bringing the electronic sounds of the world's number one party island to the north west.
Vath cranked up the Ibizan hedonism to 1,000,000 per cent with his futuristic techno beats, at what turned out to be a huge event in Liverpool’s clubland history.
Cocoon at Nation was made partly possible by Liverpool DJ, Yousef’s recent induction into the Cocoon family.
Yousef’s Circus cohort Rich McGinnis had also been tirelessly working behind the scenes for four years, waiting for the call to make this event happen and bring Vath and his entourage to Liverpool.
Sven ripped-up the crowd with his vinyl only sets of constantly escalating house and techno, seductive grooves lapping either side of bruising techno beats and epic breakdowns.
A live set from the versatile genius Dutchman Joris Voorn proved that he is certainly one of the hottest talents around on his return set to Liverpool, fresh from winning best breakthrough act in Ibiza and masterminding his Rejected label.
Michel Cleis, the man behind the biggest tune of the summer ‘La Mezcla' joined him and brought that extra twist to the techno-hyped crowd.
Over in the Courtyard, Yousef headlined, fresh off the back of a year that has seen his pedigree rise with his debut album, a London residency at Matter, and the ever growing quality of his Circus record label and club night.
Loco Dice and Steve Lawler joined him in the Courtyard and smashed out a banging set of dance tunes. Chibuku Shake Shake a final twist of ebullience and completed the stellar line-up in the Annexe, with the future synth encrusted offerings of Simian Mobile Disco rubbing up against the superlative sheen of London-based Horsemeat Disco’s revivalist genius.
The past, future and a healthy slab of the present all shaken up into one expert selection, with former Cream and Chibuku resident Phat Phil Cooper who brought his usual north Walien dexterity to the party.
Cocoon at Nation certainly didn't disappoint the crowd and heated up one cold winter night - getting everyone in the mood for the party season ahead.
