A PUB is to celebrate major investment by hosting a gig by 1980s cult band A Flock of Seagulls.

The Liverpool outfit are coming to the Nant Inn at Buckley on December 17 to mark the pub’s change of character.

New owner Jimmy Duff has used his Merseyside connections to good effect, and is determined to build a new image for the Nant Inn. He moved in six weeks ago and said he has already invested a lot of money in the pub.

Jimmy added: “Since we’ve moved in we decided to clean the place up and make the pub more community orientated. “The locals are great and like what we’re doing.”

Jimmy has 25 years experience as a landlord having run pubs in Pwllheli and Connah’s Quay as well as a bar in London, but he described the Nant Inn as his personal project.

He said: “I’ve just settled in so fast. I see this as almost a retirement thing. I’ve travelled around a lot, but this is where I want to stay and base myself from now on.

“The main thing is the people. The customers and the locals have helped make me very comfortable.”

A former session musician, Jimmy has made good use of his contacts and the singer and the lead guitarist from A Flock of Seagulls will be returning to the pub for a gig later this month.

Jimmy said: “They played for us a couple of weeks ago

“People at the bar didn’t believe they’d be seeing the real deal and then two members of the actual band turned up.
