THE driver of the car in which his 18-year-old passenger died remains in a stable condition in Walton Hospital, Liverpool.
Scott Muir 20, of Old Chirk Road,Gobowen, a trainee mechanic, was taken to Wrexham Maelor Hospital suffering from serious multiple injuries following the accident in which the car he was driving hit a tree on Saturday October 24, at around 9.30pm on the Gobowen Road, Oswestry.
Grant Ian McCulloch 18, of Balmoral Close, Oswestry was killed in the crash.
Police are appealing for witnesses.
Hundreds of people packed St Oswald’s Parish Church, Oswestry, on Thursday for Grant’s funeral which was conducted by the Vicar, the Rev Simon Thorburn with Grant’s 14-year-old brother Bradley playing the John Lennon song “Imagine” on the piano.
Grant, who was an apprentice motor mechanic at Moreton Garage, Gledrid, was a former pupil of The Marches School and gained his Chief Scout Award while a member of Gobowen Scouts.
He fell ill when he was 15 with a bone marrow deficiency and was successfully treated at the Paediatric Oncology Unit at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital to which £1,100 in donations have already been received in memory.
His parents, Ian and Jane thanked people for messages of condolence and all who have supported them during this sad time of losing their “special lad.” They especially thanked the Rev Simon Thorburn and neighbour Mr Trevor Smith for his part in the service.
