TREBLE-CHASING Mold Alex are looking to make sure it’s a memorable send-off for a management duo this season.

While Mike Cunningham has said he is to step down from his role at the helm at the end of the season, Steve Monk has also opted to make the same decision.

The duo have led Mold to the Cymru North Cup and the all-Wales Cymru Cup this season and also in their sights is the North East Wales FA Challenge Cup, with a semi-final versus Gresford Athletic taking place at Airbus this evening.

In a statement on Facebook, Monk said: “My time at Mold Alexandra FC will sadly come to an end at the end of this current season. I’ve been involved in coaching/managing for 20+ years with no break in between.

“It is time to spend weekends with the boss Sarah Monk and do the jobs I’ve been putting off at home! I would like to thank the committee, fans, volunteers, the boss Sarah, Noah, Annie, Flemmo, Rich and all of our juniors for welcoming me to your club. It has been an amazing journey.”

Gresford, last season’s runners-up in the competition, have already received some excellent news for next season. First team captain Josh Griffiths has agreed to sign a new contract to remain with the club.

Team boss Eddie Maurice-Jones told the Gresford website: “Captain Fantastic Josh has been an exceptional leader. He has been the heart and soul of this team for a number of years.

“His dedication and commitment to Gresford Athletic is commendable and it is brilliant that he has already committed for next season.”

Gresford will be without Leon Bennett, Haci Ozlu, Callum Mannion and the cup-tied Lewis Dutton, while Paul Johnson returns from injury.
