ST Martins’ relegation fears continued with a 2-1 defeat at home to fellow strugglers Wem Town in the Salop Leisure Shropshire Premier League on Saturday.

Josh Leach struck for the Saints but goals from Jordan Batchelor and James Astley sealed glory for the Wemites who eased their own relegation fears with a much-needed three points.

Meanwhile the Saints have confirmed Kody Jones will serve as assistant manager until the end of the season. 

Jones, who is currently recovering from a ACL injury sustained earlier in the season will take over the role from Rich Hughes.

Ellesmere Rangers tasted a 2-0 defeat at AMS with goals from Ryan Mccay and Tyler Evans settling the outcome.

Rangers also fell to a 4-1 defeat at home to Shrewsbury Up and Comers in midweek with a consolation goal from Louie Millington cancelled out by two goals from Ryan Knott and strikes from Jordy Kennedy and Jamie Robinson.

Charlie Morris starred with two goals as Gobowen Celtic battled to a 3-2 win at Church Stretton Town with Lewis Jones completing the scoring while the hosts replied through a James Hill double.

Morda United fell to a 1-0 defeat at Newport Town with Dan Corfield the match winner for the hosts.

Morda United Development fell to a 3-1 defeat at home to Meole Brace 1906 in division one with Jake Cintra netting twice and Fletcher Allmark completing the scoring.

Nick Crouch and Tom Jones goals proved consolation as Weston Rhyn crashed to a 6-2 defeat at Shrewsbury Up and Comers Development with Liam Edwards leading the way with four goals while Ashton Passant and Rhys Benson completed the scoring.

Meanwhile Ellesmere Blues celebrated a 5-3 win at home to FC Nations in the Greenhous Shrewsbury Sunday Premier League to toast their first victory of the campaign.

Ellesmere United shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw at Frankwell Foxes in division one while Wem Town Reserves fell to a 2-0 defeat at Worthen Juniors in division two.
