NEW doors and cladding will be allowed at a popular Oswestry fast-food restaurant, Shropshire Council has said.
Planning officers confirmed this week that KFC – based at Maes-y-Clawdd and close to Mile End roundabouts – was successful in its bid to install new entrance doors, external cladding and associated works.
The application was submitted on December 5 last year.

In her report on granting permission, Shropshire Council planning officer Sara Robinson said that the plans will not change the existing character of the building.
She said: “The proposed design and appearance of the alterations will respect the existing character of the dwelling and will not result in visual impact or cause any detrimental impact on neighbouring properties.”

Ms Robinson added that there were no public comments about the application within the three-week site notice period.
She added that while there was no objection, the application will still have to abide by national and local policies, such as the visual impact on the area.
But she said: “The building will undergo some alterations; however, it is not considered that the proposed alterations would result in any negative visual impact upon the area.”
