Morda Primary pupils raise funds for BBC Children in Need

Morda Primary School Year 6 Council organised a very successful fundraiser for BBC Children in Need and together the school raised £124.10.

All pupils, and staff, enjoyed non-uniform day and Pudsey Bear treasure hunt.

There was also a competition for the best homemade outfit with a winner from each year group.

A spokesperson for the school said: “The school council, made up of students from our Year 6 class decided on the activities that we were going to do.

“They wanted to raise money for children in need – without them being too costly for the families.

“So, they encouraged people to design their own costumes at home instead of buying them from a store.”

The children were also in charge of hiding the clues and everything needed for the treasure hunt.

“They thought it was good for everyone to have an activity, so they did the treasure hunt”, the spokesperson added, “They did one for the younger children and one for the older children – it was good that the weather was dry and everyone was able to enjoy all of it.”

The money raised came from children and their families by coming in with a donation whether they had a costume on or not.

“It was just great to see everyone working together”, the spokesperson continued, “Some of the Year 6 pupils helped the younger year groups so it was great to have students mixing together.”

The school elects a new council each year and they all get the chance to do something like the fundraiser.

Now the pupils and staff are looking forward to the Christmas Jumper Day, and money raised will go to Safe for Children.
