AN ELLESMERE bus company scored the top award at a gala in Birmingham last night, reflecting the growth of the company.
Lakeside Coaches won the Route One UK Coach Operator of the Year on Wednesday (November 8) at a gala awards ceremony in front of 800 industry colleagues at the Hilton, Birmingham.
The top national award reflects the growth of the business which started in Ellesmere in 1979 and over the last fiver years has grown into the largest independent coach operator in the West Midlands and Welsh Borders.
A spokesperson for the bus company wrote in a Facebook post: “Lakeside Coaches scored the top gong at a gala last night.”
The company has a group fleet of 120 vehicles and employs 150 people at its depots in Ellesmere, Wem, Shrewsbury, Telford and Malpas and taking approaching 5,000 children to school and college in the region every day.
