THE dedicated owners of a Ceiriog Valley meat farm and store received a pleasant surprise when they discovered their nomination as finalists in two esteemed award categories.
Glenda and Mike Crawshaw, along with their son Llion, are the owners of Dolwen Lamb and Beef in Llanarmon Dyffryn Ceiriog.
They said they were shocked to be recognised for their efforts in the realms of sustainable farming and their contributions to the Farm to Fork movement in Wales.
Although Glenda and Mike didn't emerge as winners in their nominated categories, their commitment to sustainability earned them the highly commended accolade in the Wales Food & Drink Sustainable Values Award.
This recognition was a heartening affirmation of their tireless endeavors to operate their business in an environmentally conscious manner.

Glenda said: “You do things day in and day out and you try to be as sustainable as possible.
"You change the way the business runs, so the recognition for everything that you are doing to keep the business afloat was amazing.”
In their quest for sustainability, the company introduced meat boxes as a response to the growing concern about ethical farming practices.
The awards ceremony itself proved to be an exhilarating experience for Glenda and Mike, albeit a slightly unfamiliar one.
Surrounded by like-minded individuals, they savoured a delectable three-course meal while revelling in the company of passionate industry professionals.
The event served as a powerful reminder of their shared commitment to sustainable values, which provided a significant boost of motivation for their future endeavours.
Glenda and Mike were taken aback when they were announced as recipients of these special accolades, even though they were not explicitly referred to as runners-up.
The recognition further fueled their determination to expand their business and pursue even greater achievements.
Glenda added: “It gave us a boost to go on and do things bigger and better.”
While Glenda and Mike celebrated their accomplishments at the awards ceremony, Llion, held down the fort back at the farm.
Looking ahead, the couple expressed their aspirations to supply local shops, viewing it as a pivotal goal for the upcoming year.
