AN OSWESTRY restaurant has the pleasure of catering for guests on a super yacht at the Monaco Grand Prix over the weekend.

This is not the first time Mike Scott, co-owner of Townhouse in Willow Street, has attended the star-studded Formula 1 event, but for the first time he was asked if he could cater one of the parties.

Mike is also the director of Seventh Sense, an event company working out of Townhouse – and they have worked closely with the Monaco event, attending for the past six years, and helping with logistics.

He explained that the weekend was hard work but that it was ‘glamorous’ and a ‘great privilege’.

He said: “We got there on Wednesday, so we had nice food and drinks and got to walk around Monaco, and we had a speed boat taking us to and from the super yacht.”

“Then during the weekend staff worked for as long as 18 hours a day – the most recorded number of steps was 30,000, and on a yacht that is quite a lot.

“On our way back, we had lunch in Nice, and it was really nice after all the hard work, we all loved it – it was definitely an experience.”

The team formed of Mike, three chefs, and four waiting staff, served over 160 guests during the weekend.

The team helped to cater alongside a gin company, co-founded by Formula 1 driver, Valtteri Bottas, who was also on the boat.

“The Oath Gin company was the sponsors of the yacht and Valtteri talked about the brand,” Mike added.

“There were quite a few famous people attending on the yacht.”

Mike further explained that this was a big contract that will bring in good business.

He continued: “This contract is definitely a step in the right direction. We hope to do the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix next.”

With slight changes within the restaurant’s team recently Mike has been taking a more hands-on approach to the business.

“I am definitely glad to be more involved than I have ever been before – and with the great opportunities to come this year I think the business will move along really well," Mike added.
