TWO FAMOUS athletes are to set foot in a theatre outside of Oswestry for an unforgettable night about their lives and careers.

Boxer Joe Calzaghe and Wrexham legend Mickey Thomas will be at the Holroyd Community Theatre at Moreton Hall, in Weston Rhyn, on Saturday, June 3.

In an event organised by Dragon Promotions, based in Wales, the former Welsh professional boxer, and the former footballer, who played for Manchester United, Wrexham and many others, are set for of an amazing sports memorabilia auction, raffle, and talk about their careers.

Mike Williams, of Dragon Promotions, said he has worked with both athletes before and is excited to bring them to the area.

He continued: “I am not as starstruck anymore, we brought loads of big names here across the years, but I know some people never had the opportunity to see them in person.

“Now they can, and besides their talk, people can meet them and have a picture taken, which I think many will enjoy.”

Tickets will go on sale tonight, Monday, April 3, and will be about £75 per person for the night.

Mike continued: “We have limited tickets going on sale, and I expect them to go quickly.

“We always expect for our tickets to go quick, with us we only ever bring in top celebrity, like Mike Tyson, Robert Duran and Dan Biggar.”

Recently Dragon Promotions brought on Paul ‘Gazza’ Gascoigne, which was a great night, and they are excited for this next event to match that evening.

“I brought Joe here before, and his event brought together 1,000 people” Mike said.

“And Mike was there at Paul’s show, and I know a lot of people went up asking for pictures, so I thought we should bring them together for a good night.”
