Plane forced to make emergency landing in field near Ellesmere

A plane had to make an emergency landing in a field in Ellesmere on Friday afternoon.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue received a call at 2pm on after a small plane was forced to emergency land in a field in the Kenwick area.

Eight fire crews from Ellesmere, Prees and Wem were in attendance, but were not all needed once the situation was assessed.

Police and a land ambulance also attended the incident. The pilot was out of the aircraft on arrival but suffering shock, and did not go to hospital.  

It is currently unclear why the plane was forced to land.
