Ellesmere Town Council has revealed that there is an interested party in the former canal warehouse at the Wharf.
Pochins, the property specialists who own the historic building, are in talks with an interested party that would help restore the building and improve the fencing and roofing which are in need of repair.
Issues were raised at February’s council meeting regarding the building’s deteriorating state, and calls were made to have it put on the English Heritage ‘at risk’ register.
Councillor Stacy Thornton said: “It’s detracting from a wonderful development. I would like to see the exterior preserved, it’s very important.”
Councillors are expecting to see restoration begin later on in the year.
