A ministerial visit to Oswestry today has led to the comissioning of two key reports.

John Hayes MP spent the morning visiting the A5 between Shrewsbury and Ruabon as part of the campaign to turn the congested stretch into a dual carriageway.

And in the wake of hearing from residents, businessowners, councillors and emergency service personnel, he announced work on two reports investigating the impact of the width of roads, and also the change in the type of road, has on drivers’ behaviour.

Mr Hayes said: “I am aware of these issues and would like some further advice as that applies here and everywhere.”

He continued: “I can’t make any decisions today, but I will take this seriously and consider this seriously. I will give this my close attention and my very best endeavours.”

Mr Hayes was due to spend this afternoon visiting Pant and Llanymynech where a campaign is ongoing for a bypass.
