FUN for all the family is guaranteed at Oswestry Show when it returns for its 130th anniversary on August 1.
Alongside a spellbinding and awe-inspiring feast for the eyes in the main ring throughout the day, there will be the regular features and competitions taking place across The Showground at Park Hall.
Spectators can watch the judging of many different breeds of horses in four separate rings around the showground, while the Oswestry Show still maintains its strong agricultural links and showcases a wide variety of cattle and sheep classes.
A spokesperson for Oswestry Show said: “Judges are engaged from all over the country to preside on the day and one of the highlights is the grand parade of prize winners in the main arena.
“This year the show is hosting the National Border Leicester Sheep Competition, a prestigious event which is being held for the first time outside of Scotland.
“It is a real privilege that Oswestry has been asked to put on this event and it is very fitting that this years’ show president John Evans, who farms with his family at Halton Farm in Chirk, has bred Border Leicester Sheep for many years, showing them with great success at Oswestry since the 1950s.”
While visitors are perusing this area they can also take in the goat section and interesting varieties of rare and minority breeds, before heading off to watch the sheep shearing competition.
During the day there is a variety of entertainment on the Village Green, face painting and magic for the younger generation, and for those who wish to sit and relax for a  while performances from the Porthywaen Brass Band, while over the way is the collection of vintage cars, motorcycles and machinery.
The small livestock and pet building is a busy place where judging of poultry, pigeons, rabbits and guinea pigs can be seen, and a large number of trade stands are situated around the showground, with separate sections for craft, food and horticulture.
The spokesperson added: “Organisers of the show are always grateful to the many local businesses who continue to support the show in this way and by contributing with sponsorship for the staging of this event.”
A subscription of £15 can be paid to support the staging of this event, which includes entry fee to the show and allows admission to the Members’ Bar and Dining Room.
Pre-show tickets will also be available from July 1, from the Oswestry Advertizer on Oswald Road, the Show Office and at
