North Shropshire candidates go head-to-head

NORTH Shropshire’s parliamentary candidates will go head-to-head next week in Oswestry.
 
An election hustings has been organised by Churches Together for constituents wanting to hear more from their five parliamentary candidates.
 
Owen Paterson for the Conservative Party, Graeme Currie for the Labour Party, Tom Thornhill for the Liberal Democrat Party, Duncan Kerr for the Green Party and Andrea Allen for UKIP, will answer a series of questions posed to them by members of the public.
 
The hustings will be chaired by Rev Simon Thorburn, vicar of St Oswald’s Parish Church.
 
Also at the hustings, campaign group 38 Degrees, led by Reverend Mark Turner, are hoping to present their NHS petition to the candidates.
 
More than 430 people last month signed a petition in Oswestry to save the NHS from privatisation as part of a day of action coordinated by 38 Degrees.
 
The hustings will take place in the Methodist Church Hall, Castle Street, Oswestry on Tuesday, April 28 at 7.30pm.
 
Questions for the candidates can be left at the Christian Book Shop on Lower Brook Street, St Oswald’s Parish Church or via  ctod@gmail.com by Monday, April 27.  Questions can be asked on the night.
