Ellesmere residents to have say on Place Plan

ELLESMERE residents could soon be asked how they want money to be spent in the town as part of Shropshire Council's Place Plan.

During last week’s town council meeting, Shropshire councillor Ann Hartley addressed the council regarding the Place Plan.

She suggested that councillors should consult with the people of the town to decide on how they would like to see money spent.

Cllr Hartley said: “This is extremely important. We could get £1,000 for a consultation. I suggest a survey of the whole town, we could leaflet everyone to get a true representation of what the people want.

“We can get feedback from the town and where they want to see Ellesmere going in the future.”

Place Plans are used by the council to identify the local requirements and will ask developers to contribute to through developer contributions.

They also aim to identify opportunities to bid for external funding and provide transparency to local communities on local investment priorities.

Councillor Hartley added: “There will be money available and we need to make sure we don't miss out on it.

“It’s our chance to have our say on how things will be done in the future.”
