AFTER completing her 19th consecutive marathon, Amy Hughes has “unofficially” beaten a world record.

The 26-year-old from West Felton has set herself a mammoth challenge to run 53 marathons in 53 days. On Sunday she told her Facebook followers that she had “unofficially” beaten the record amount of consecutive marathons run by a female.
She explained: “Whether it gets officially recognised by Guinness or not I will have to wait and see.”

However, Amy was so delighted with what she has accomplished so far she said: “But if not who cares because I feel like I'm achieving what I set out to do, which is raise money for an amazing cause and inspire people to get up and active!”

The sports therapist, who is raising money for the Isabelle Lottie Foundation, is close to raising £10,000 but hopes by the end of her 53 days, she will have raised £53,000.

Amy has inspired people all over the country to get fit and active and she has received many messages over the past couple of weeks from people who have decided to start running.  She said: “I feel incredibly proud to have come this far and am amazed at the amount I have inspired.”
