BETHESDA’S own Gruff Rhys is gearing up for what is sure to be a warmly-received hometown gig.

The Super Furry Animals frontman, who has in recent years also branched out into film, will play a solo concert at Neuadd Ogwen on Friday, August 1.

With nine Super Furry Animals albums, two Neon Neon records and a handful of solo LPs under his belt, Gruff is probably the most successful rock musician to hail from a town which is renowned for its music scene.

Aside from music, Gruff has released films Separado and American Interior. The latter sees Gruff head to America on an adventure to follow the footsteps of Waunfawr explorer John Evans.

American Interior has also spawned an album, book and app of the same name.

Always inventive and a consumate performer, Gruff’s gig should be a treat for Furries fans.

Tickets are £12. For more information, call Neuadd Ogwen on 01248 605 388 or visit neuaddogwen.com.
