A NEW photography competition to help promote Oswestry is launched today.

The initiative by tourism group Oswestry Borderland Tourism in partnership with the Advertizer is aimed at the next edition of Oswestry and the Welsh Borderlands.
Oswestry Borderland Tourism chairman, Richard Powell, believes the competition will reveal some fabulous new images of the town.

He said: “We would like to focus on Oswestry, especially the town centre, nearby landscapes and attractions.

“Some fresh new images capturing the friendliness, history, beauty and atmosphere of the local area would be fantastic.”

To pick up the 2014 Oswestry and Welsh Borderland brochure visit the Oswestry Visitor and Exhibition Centre by St Oswald’s Parish Church.

Anyone is able to submit up to three photographs per entry. The photographs must be of Oswestry town or the surrounding landscapes. Selected photographs may be included in the new edition of the brochure and the tourism website complete with your credit.

The winning photographer will receive a half-day portfolio critique and photography tuition session with a professional photographer.

To submit your photograph email each entry in hi-res JPG format to obt@oswestry-welshborders.org.uk with the subject title ‘Photo Comp’.

The winner will announced in September with the winning photograph published in the Advertizer.
