OSWESTRY Show is going online in 2014 with internet ticket sales available for the first time.

With a brand new website, visitors to the annual one-day event at Oswestry Showground at Park Hall, can purchase their tickets online ahead of the show on Saturday, August 2. The tickets will then be sent out from the show office.
Also new for this year is president John Jones, a well-known retired livestock auctioneer and chartered surveyor from Guilsfield near Welshpool.
John has attended the show for many years, firstly as a child with his parents and then in 1971 with Norman Lloyd and Co who were heavily involved as secretaries to the show until 1983. He has also been a past commentator of the horse parade and with his wife, Carol, who he met at the show in 1971, has exhibited ponies and sheep on numerous occasions.
On taking the chair at the annual meeting he thanked the Oswestry and District Agricultural Society for electing him as president and said how much he was looking forward to the forthcoming year.
Now in its 129th year, the show will see the return of The Imps Motorcycle Display Team with their programme of daredevil jumps, plus the Pony Club Mounted Games competitors will be providing fast fun, the Tanatside Hunt will parade their hounds, while Whittington and Oswestry Young Farmers will host an inter-club ‘It’s a Knockout’.
And on top of that there will be the usual classes for cattle, sheep, goats, horses and rare breeds, plus a number of competitions and trade, food, flower and craft stands.
Schedules for all livestock classes can be obtained now by contacting the show office on the showground.
