Oswestry In Bloom

Staff reporter (Border Counties)

A GOLDEN glow will be on the wish list for those behind Oswestry’s In Bloom Committee on Thursday when Heart of England judges visit.

With the local group keeping their fingers crossed for a 10th gold in the regional competition they will be hoping for good weather to show the town’s flowering decorations in all their glory.
The tour will commence at Fairholme Care Home at 10am on Thursday,  before taking in local schools, Cae Glas Park and the town centre, before a lunch at St Oswald’s Parish Centre from 1pm.
Betty Gull, chairman of the In Bloom Committee, said the ambition for the 10th gold had put some pressure on this year’s entry, but she commented: “I think we have come to the stage where we will have done everything we possibly can by the time the judges arrive.
“I am hugely grateful to our new members who have worked their socks off and a big thank you to the local people who have done their best to make their own gardens look so good,” she added.
