TRIBUTES have been paid to a “bubbly” mother and grandmother who died in a tragic holiday accident.
Sylvia Pritchard, pictured, died three days into a week-long golfing holiday with her husband, John, and friends in Belek, Turkey, last month.
The 68-year-old former Henlle Park Golf Club captain is believed to have hit her head while swimming in the sea off a jetty at the holiday resort they were staying at.
Mr Pritchard said his wife of 48 years was “bubbly and organised”, adding: “She was a funny lady, everybody loved her.
“The funeral on Thursday was the sort of day Sylvia would have loved with everybody having a good time – she had a lot of friends.
“We had a superb life,” he added.
The couple moved to Oswestry 12 years ago from Wrexham and quickly got involved in golf with Mrs Pritchard joining Henlle and her husband joining the Vale of Llangollen club.
He continued: “She loved swimming in the sea. It seems somewhere along there she has banged her head and it has caused a bleed.
“We were having a great time. When the accident happened the hotel staff’s response was very good, the life guards were in within minutes. We thought she had drowned but it seems she hit her head, we don’t know what on.
“It was just horrific how quickly it happened.
“I just feel sorry for Sylvia. She was just unlucky and paid the ultimate price,” he added.
Mrs Pritchard also leaves four children, Stephen, Clare, Debbie and Helen, and six grandchildren.
l A memorial golf competition is due to take place at Henlle Park Golf Club tomorrow (Wednesday).
