A LIFE-SAVING team in the Ceiriog Valley has benefited from a new donation.
Wood panel manufacturer Kronospan provided the Ceiriog First Responders group with a new cabinet to store their life-saving defibrillator.
Dafydd Morris from the group wrote to the Chirk-based firm asking for sponsorship to help buy the vital piece of kit.
Thanking the company, he said: “Kronospan’s generous donation has enabled us to purchase a special cabinet in which to store the defibrillator in my garage. This will enable it to be easily accessed by all members of the team as well as keeping the defibrillator at an ambient temperature to ensure that the battery does not go flat.”
The Ceiriog volunteers provide an essential service in the rural community. They are trained by North Wales Ambulance service to respond to any incident within the seven-mile radius of the Ceiriog valley, which includes Chirk, when the ambulance is called.
All the volunteers have been trained to use the new defibrillator machine which is needed when someone is in cardiac arrest and fighting for their life.
Ben Hipkiss, Kronospan’s human resource manager, commented: “We are very pleased to have helped the Ceiriog First Responders with this new cabinet which will help the volunteers to act quickly which is crucially important in saving lives.”
n The Ceiriog First Responders are always looking for more volunteers so anyone interested should call Dafydd Morris on 07973 731763.
