THE hottest ticket in town is selling fast ahead of Michael Morpurgo’s visit to the Oswestry Festival of the Word.
More than half of the 300 tickets have sold out already for the special interview with the celebrated War Horse author, and the former Children’s Laureate, which will take place at The Marches School on Sunday, March 10.
The event, held in association with Morris Cook Chartered Accountants will kick off the Oswestry Lit Fest, which is this year held in association with NWN Media.
Carrie Morris, from Oswestry’s award-winning Booka Bookshop, the official LitFest box office, revealed today: “We are being inundated with people anxious to secure their ticket for the Michael Morpurgo event before it sells out. The phone was ringing in the shop before we even opened the doors this morning and a rush of customers came in within minutes of opening to buy in person before the early bird discount closes on Thursday.
“One gentleman said to me he still can’t quite believe Michael Morpurgo is actually coming to Oswestry. It will definitely be a sell-out event as we all expected,” she added.
Other top-selling events for the two-week festival include Whitbread Prize-winning novelist Kate Atkinson in Conversation, which is now taking place at The Wynnstay Hotel on Friday, March 22. This has led to extra capacity being added after a third of tickets sold out six weeks ahead of Ms. Atkinson’s appearance.
The Aliens Love Underpants children’s event at Oswestry Library has already sold out, with a reserve list in operation.
