A TOWN centre business and local artists are teaming up to bring a splash of colour to Oswestry through a new art project.
Radio Cafe and members of the Inside Out Art Group hoped to start their first exhibition at the Bailey Street business at the beginning of next month.
It is hoped a number of the paintings will take on the radio theme, after the shop was formerly used as a communications hub.
Artist John Swogger, who is leading the initiative, said it was a good way to exhibit local works.
“At the moment it is just myself and Rob Bower exhibiting, but hopefully if everything goes well we can keep it on a rolling basis every two months,” he explained.
Referring to the theme, John added: “It is a great idea – it will being out something of the history of the shop. I’m sure people will rise to the challenge because we have a mixed bag of pieces, but many will fit in with that theme.”
Saffron Rainey, proprietor of Radio Cafe, said he was excited by the partnership, adding: “I think it will be really good. I would like the cafe to be known more for displaying artists’ work and the theme will be interesting.”
The exhibition also continues the art organisation’s long affiliation with Oswestry businesses following it’s ‘Art Works’ initiative last year, and its regular exhibitions and meetings held at The Willow Gallery on Willow Street.
