ALEX Darlington, Michael Wilde and Chris Jones all scored twice as The New Saints moved to the top of the Welsh Premier League table, hitting Llanelli for six and piling even more misery on the cash-strapped Reds.
TNS kicked off at Stebonheath Park knowing that a win by five goals would see them regain the summit if Prestatyn dropped points on their trip to Carmarthen, and Craig Harrison’s men duly obliged as they bludgeoned 10-man Llanelli from start to finish with a devastating attacking display while the Seasiders needed a last minute penalty to escape with a point from the Old Gold.
Saints now lead the way in the defence of their championship crown on goal difference from perennial rivals Bangor, and this Saturday’s clash at home to Carmarthen will also act as a pre-cursor to January’s League Cup final between the two teams with Mark Aizlewood’s side having scored only twice for the concession of 27 goals in their last eight meetings with the Oswestry club.
