A new bowls club has been set up in Oswestry for people wanting to play the sport recreationally.
The newly founded Oswestry Bowling Club, started its league two weeks ago, with the help of a £500 donation from the Charlotte Hartey Foundation, which provides gifts to youth clubs, schools and organisations.
The backing has helped the club to gather all that was necessary to get them up and running, while also helping them rent the green from the council.
A spokesman from the club said that they are doing this for 'pure recreational purposes', and that there is no room for a big competition.
They are a non-profit club, and everything they invest is going into the gear and the rent.
There are 25 members, currently, but they don't want to exceed 30 this year, as there wouldn't be enough space on the green for more people.
