THE NEW SAINTS owner Mike Harris has revealed he is open to welcoming the world’s fastest man for a trial at the club.

Usain Bolt has hit the headlines recently as the current 100-metre world record holder is venturing into the footballing world.

The Jamaican is currently on trial at Australian A-League side Central Coast Mariners and recently scored his first goals in a friendly.

The Welsh champions are the latest in a list of clubs to declare interest in the famous sprinter.

Harris tweeted the eight-time Olympic gold medallist saying: “Come on @usainbolt why not come and talk to world record holders @Tnsfc the @WPL_Official champions about your football career.”

Although he admitted the tweet was perhaps a little tongue-in-cheek, Harris said that he would certainly be open for discussions with the 32-year-old.

“If he (Bolt) wants to come along for a trial he’s more than welcome to," said Harris.

“He’s been on trial at a few places and if I’m honest, I have no idea what his footballing ability is like – what’s to say he’ll definitely get in?

“One thing that’s certain is that he’s obviously got blistering pace. Anyone that fast is in with a chance of being a good player.”

Footage of Bolt scoring his first professional goal went viral on social media last week when he got on the scoresheet twice in a 4-0 victory over Macarther South West United.

Harris added: “He can obviously play football to some standard, it’s just whether he’s good enough to play at a level that he aspires to be at.”

Bolt remains on trial in Australia after reportedly turning down a contract offer from Maltese side Valletta last week.
