Children from Trefonen School have been busy brightening up their village bus shelter.

Oswestry Rural Parish Councillor Tony Cheetham requested that the pupils from Trefonen got involved in the project, following in the footsteps of Arddleen village.

Cllr Cheetham, who represents Trefonen and Treflach on the council, said that the parish council decided to paint the shelter which had been very dark inside.

“We approached the school and they were very keen on the idea,” said Cllr Cheetham.

“My granddaughter Ella studies fine art at university, so we got her to draw the design and the children helped to paint it.

“It’s been great as the children are so proud of their work and have often pointed out parts of the shelter that they have helped to decorate.

“We have a great community here in Trefonen and one of the main things we focus on is including the public in everything we do.”

Cllr Cheetham said that previously the shelter had been covered in obscene graffiti, but since the children decorated the bus shelter it’s not been touched.

“It’s really brightened up the village and it’s great that we were able to get the children and community involved in the project,” continued Cllr Cheetham.
