SIXTH form students have gained an insight into the work.

Youngsters at The Marches School in Oswestry have received a several careers talks in recent weeks.

The school has welcomed talks from the Shropshire Wildlife Trust, the University Centre Shrewsbury, Qube Music Workshop and Cambridge University in recent weeks.

Tom Howells, from the Shropshire Wildlife Trust, discussed career options including marketing and the media, as well as outdoor careers, at the trust.

The University Centre, Shrewsbury, was represented by Elizabeth O’Brien and Elly Vesty, who spoke about courses and careers in science.

Alex Keir and Jonathan Jones – both Marches alumni of the Marches, who are now studying at Cambridge – spoke to current students about the application process for top universities, the grade requirements and what university life.

The sixth form students were also visited by multi–instumentalists Adrian Plant and Kate Turley to talk about careers in music.

Claire Boyes, head of sixth form at the Marches School, said: “Here at the Marches, we aim to give our students a clear and definitive career path by giving them several options and alternatives to ensure that their dreams can become a reality.

"The visitors we welcome here to give talks to our students are carefully selected and highly beneficial to them and the career paths that they can choose to pursue”.

The Marches Sixth Form is hosting an open evening on Wednesday, October 24.
