THE Denbigh and District Summer Darts League season came to a close with a successful finals night at the Wings Club.

The night started with the final of the nine-a-side cup, which pitched A-League winners the Wingmen against stablemates Wings A.

The Wingmen found themselves 2-1 down, but they turned things around to lead 4-3.

Dylan Anderson drew the Wings A level with a dramatic victory over Dilwyn Martin, with Danny Tinney's last tie success giving the Wingmen a 5-4 result to complete a league and cup double.

Dave Davies and Claire Davies performed brilliantly to oust Dilwyn Martin and Sarah Martin 2-0 in the mixed doubles final, while Charlie Walker-Williams and Rachel Kingdon took the ladies' doubles honours with a tough 2-1 win over Vicky Langan and Zoe Lavery.

Father and son Dilwyn Martin and Rich Martin secured yet another men's doubles crown after defeating the Masons duo of John Jones and Robin Jones 2-0.

Turning to the ladies' individuals final and it was Charlie Walker-Williams who stood firm to record a tight 2-1 result over Claire Davies.

This secured her second trophy of the evening and her second ever ladies' singles accolade.

Josh Jones (Railway B) was too strong for Stuart Olding (Wings B) to run out a 3-0 winner in the men's B individual final to claim a maiden singles title.

The last game of the evening saw reigning champion Dave Davies lock horns with Corwen-based Deian Roberts (Wings A) in the men's A individual final.

Roberts had earlier hit a sublime 11-dart leg and a 180 in the double-off nine-a-side format.

Although the Gwynedd county regular served up a 17-dart leg and another 180, he was unable to get the better of Davies, whose solid darts helped him to a competitive 3-2 victory and a second individual summer title in a row.

The night saw some great darts thrown, with Rachel Kingdon and Dilwyn Martin also grabbing maximums on the stage.

Organisers would like to thank the Wings Club for the set-up and the venue, and all the players, committee members and members of the Denbigh darting community who supported the evening.
