POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a person died following a crash near Ruthin.

An investigation at the scene in relation to the fatal crash involving a car and a pedestrian on the A494 during the early hours of this morning is now over.

The road was closed for several hours on Sunday, October 14 after collision investigators analysed the scene.

Police thanked local people for their patience.

Sgt Jason Diamond of the Roads Policing Unit said: “The man, who is in his 40s, was struck by a vehicle during the early hours of this morning, Sunday, October 14, as he walked along the A494 from Ruthin towards Llanbedr DC.

“He is local to the area and our sympathies go out to his family, who are being supported by Police Family Liaison Officers.

“The investigation is to establish the circumstances surrounding this collision and we are keen to speak to anyone who may have been travelling along the A494 and who saw the man walking between 1am and 1.40am this morning.”
