THE FINAL preparations are being made for an annual fireworks extravaganza is set to light up the skies and draw the crowds to Oswestry.

The event at Brogyntyn Park next to the fire station, will be held from 6–9.30pm on Saturday, November 3 and is set to raise funds for several charities in the area.

Borderland Rotary Club has organised the event – which attracts large crowds to the town every year – alongside Oswestry Town Council.

A Rotary Club spokesman said: "It promises to be a great evening, with a big, big bonfire, lots and lots of fireworks and all the money going to charity!

"Volunteers will be on hand to make sure it all goes off safely and is enjoyed by all who attend."

The spokesman added that last year's fireworks extravaganza raised more than £8,000 for "a multitude of local charities".

"It wasn’t just the big boys that benefited – lesser known names such as Designs in Mind, Connect for Life, Shropshire Young Carers, Hectors Greyhound Rescue and many more saw donations come their way," he added

"Let’s enjoy this year’s show and make it another bumper year that we can all be proud of."
