Following a hugely successful concert at Whittington earlier in October, the proceeds from a concert have been distributed to local charities.

The concert, which was given by the Australian Welsh Male Choir and the Orthopaedic Male voice choir who were supported by the Brisbane born soprano Ayse Goknor Shanal was a sell-out.

The entire proceeds from the night have been passed to local charities.

As a result Harry Pickavance from the Orthopaedic Choir has been able to present cheques to The Robert Jones & Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital League of Friends and Hope House Children’s Hospice for £1,050.

The donations were received by Victoria Sugden for the League of Friends and Rachel Lewis on behalf of Hope House.

In addition, a donation of £250 was made to St John the Baptist Church at Whittington for their Repair Fund and £35 to Whittington Castle who kindly organised a tour of the castle for the visiting Australians.

Mr Pickavance said: “All performers had a tremendous night!

"It was a delight to sing to an appreciative audience, in a packed house and the result we achieved was excellent in being able to donate the proceeds to these charities.

"We would like to thank all those who helped and supported the concert.”
