THE FAMILY of an elderly woman who died after being involved in a collision in Chirk have paid tribute to a "beloved" mum.

Laura Roberts, 86, from Chirk, died at University Hospital North Staffs after being involved in a road traffic collision on September 9 outside The Bridge Inn.

The family said in statement released to West Mercia Police: "Laura was a beloved mam, nain and hen nain. She will be sadly missed to all that knew her."

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: "The family have requested that they are left to grieve at this time.

"Police are still appealing for any witnesses that may have seen the collision on Chirk Road, At Chirk Bank to come forward."

At approximately 8:30pm, a white Peugeot Partner van collided with a blue Volkswagen Passat car on Chirk Bank.

The driver of this vehicle, a 58-year-old man and two other passengers suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital.

The driver of the van, a 42-year-old man, sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital.

Enquiries are ongoing but officers are keen to speak with anyone who saw the incident or who saw the vehicles and the manner in which they were being driven prior to the collision.
