The POWER battle between Paul Pogba and Jose Mourinho went up a notch this week and usually you'd say in a situation like this that it's the manager who's going to win.

Normally they're the ones who have the final say and you would hope that the board and owners would back you.

But I'm not sure that Ed Woodward is a big fan of Mourinho and whether his patience is wearing thin – only time will tell. Both Pogba and Mourinho are allowing their egos to rule their heads and if I was a betting man, I'm not sure which outcome I would back.

I saw the video that was all over social media last week and I couldn't help be drawn to the attitude they had towards each other in their body language.

Pogba could be doing whatever he can to disrupt so he can get out of the club come the new year when the transfer window opens, and it must be remembered that he is a valuable asset to United.

You can look at this in two ways; it could be that both men are going tit-for-tat and are childish or that Mourinho has simply lost patience with the player.

That's not just rumours either because it's been widely reported in the media that he told Pogba in front of the rest of the players that he won't ever be captain of Manchester United again while he is manager.

Pogba probably isn't helping himself with some of the interviews he's given in the mixed zone after the games.

It's not great to hark back but this wouldn't have happened to this extent under Sir Alex Ferguson, as he would nip in the bud any dissent in the dressing room which he ruled because the players were scared of him.

But then you see how much players are paid these days and you have to ask how much does Pogba actually care about United? He's already left the club once.

In Fergie's era, they really wanted to play for the club and the spirit was there, all pulling together. How much of Mourinho's players want to win for him? You could see that last week against Derby County in the League Cup who fully deserved their win. It was a strong United side and they should have seen them off.
