A SCHOOL has been closed after it was left without water this morning.

Students at St Martins 3-16 school were sent home after the water supply cut off at around 11am today (September 27).

Severn Trent Water has been contacted about the issue and is working on the issue.

Clare Ellis, PA for St Martins headteacher Sue Lovecy, said: “We had to make the decision whether or not to keep the children here or send them home.

“Given the time we were left without water, we took the advice of our caterers and Shropshire Council and sent the children home.

“Some of the school’s neighbours across the road have also been left without water, so it looks as though the problem has hit the area as opposed to just the school.”

A spokesperson for Severn Trent Water said: “Our teams have been out and investigated reports of a water leak in St Martins.

“We found that the pipe that has burst is on private property, and not a Severn Trent pipe.

“We’ve managed to get the water back on for everybody, and the pipe will be repaired by those responsible.”
