VISITORS can find out more about the town at its new tourist information centre.

Llanfyllin Town Council has announced that Dee Thomas at the Bank Cafe will provide information for visitors on the authority's behalf.

Dee will re-organise the front section of the cafe to include a large rack of leaflets about accommodation and places to visit - and there will be folders with detailed information for visitors.

“I am very pleased to be providing tourist information in my café. We already help people with their enquiries but it will be very good to do this on a bigger scale in partnership with the town council," she said

"Visitors to the town are vital for businesses like mine and we want to make them feel very welcome and informed about all the great places to stay and visit locally."

New signs will be placed outside the Bank Cafe and it will be marked on the new town maps which the council has commissioned from Dave Goodman.

Mayor of Llanfyllin, Councillor Simon Baynes, said: “We look forward to working closely with Dee Thomas. This is the latest initiative by the town council to boost the town and bring in more visitors along with fully re-opening the toilets, improving street cleaning, encouraging art and creativity with Stan Jankowski’s wind sculpture, securing the long term future of the library, supporting and building closer links with Y Dolydd Llanfyllin Workhouse, promoting Cae Bodfach and its pump/bike track and organising the second Christmas Market on Friday, November 30.”

Organisations or businesses that wish to advertise in the tourist information facility should contact either Cllr Baynes, on 07880 786573 or baynes@bodfach.com, or Dee Thomas on 07969 670664 or ginge7439@hotmail.com.

Alternatively, speak to Dee at the Bank Cafe which is open Monday to Saturday from 8.30am - 5.30pm.
