Chirk railway station was awarded its sixth consecutive “outstanding” mark in this year’s Royal Horticultural Society It’s Your Neighbourhood awards.
As part of the Wales in Bloom project, Chirk station was assessed in July by the chairman of Wales in Bloom, Jim Goodwin.
The volunteer-run station is paid a visit each year by an assessor who marks it on three separate categories, to give an overall score out of 100.
Chirk station received a score of more than 90 per cent for the second year running.
There was an awards ceremony at Colwyn Bay on Friday, September 14 where various areas and stations received awards for their upkeep.
Despite the hosepipe ban in the summer, Mr Goodwin made note of how well-kept the plants were.
He said: “The sustainable planting was doing well despite the dry weather, and there was a wide range of shrubs and herbaceous material on show.
Chirk Station volunteer Christine Ashford said: “My thanks to our small band of volunteers who continue to work together to ensure that the station looks good whatever the weather.
“We look forward to working with Transport Wales and Network Rail.
“Our long list of supporters continues to grow, thanks to all our efforts to bring our community together.”
