LOCAL business Topwood have announced they are expanding their operation.

Topwood Ltd have recently acquired at 60,000 sq. ft former chilled foods production and distribution facility on Wrexham Industrial Estate. The site, which was marketed jointly by BA Commercial and Legat Owen, will accommodate the growth of Topwood’s document storage, data destruction and recycling business.

The former distribution facility has a capacity to securely store over 250,000 archive boxes of sensitive data such as medical records, financial files and corporate documents. The facility is undergoing a considerable programme of renovation and improvement.

The company currently has a fleet of data destruction trucks that provide mobile on-site shredding which customers can witness but the new site will allow the firm to significantly expand its off-site shredding business – where confidential waste is collected and destroyed centrally. The former production units are being stripped and renovated ready for the installation of shredding and baling equipment which will increase the company’s capacity to handle over 150 tonnes of confidential waste every week.

The adjoining office accommodation will support the waste electrical equipment recycling business as well its electronic document management service offer.

Managing director, Tom Gilruth said: “we spent over a year considering various locations but with its good road links to the A55, M53 and M56, Wrexham Industrial Estate was an obvious choice once the site was identified - good access to customers in North Wales and the North West’s conurbations surrounding Liverpool, Warrington and Manchester.
