A TEAM of volunteers from Newtown have given up their Saturday to clean up communal areas at a nursing home in Treowen.

The group of helpers from Hope Church completed their eighth ‘Love Newtown’ project, spending the day at Bethshan Care Home gardening, weeding, potting and cleaning up the external areas.

A spokesperson for Hope Church said: “The team took on many tasks in the gardens as well as the footpaths leading to the home, cutting back areas that had overgrown as well as tidying and general maintenance.

“Garden troughs were constructed, garden furniture was painted, and plants potted to brighten up the outside seating area for the residents,” they added.

Sylvia Campbell, Bethshan Home manager said: “Thank you so much, everyone did a lovely job. I can’t express my gratitude and thanks enough for all their hard work.”
