Police are appealing for information after a man died in a car crash near Lake Vyrnwy on Sunday.

Officers from Dyfed Powys Police say the victim's Vauxhall Corsa struck a tree near Abertridwr in the early hours of the morning, resulting in the death of the driver.

The man has not been identified, but family and the coroner have been informed, police say.

The statement reads: "Dyfed-Powys Police is appealing for witnesses of a one vehicle collision that happened on the B4396 near the village of Abertridwr at around 5.45am today (Sunday, September 23).

"A silver Vauxhall Corsa appears to have collided with a tree, sadly resulting in the death of the male driver.

"Next of kin and HM Coroner have been informed.

"Road closures were put in place.
