ICONIC Wrexham music venue Central Station closed its doors for the last time at the weekend ahead of a revamp which will see it change its name and layout.

The popular night spot on Hill Street has attracted thousands through its doors since opening in 1999 and has welcomed some of the biggest names in music onto its stage including Robert Plant, Kasabian, Bastille and Catfish and the Bottlemen.

The building will now be known as 'The Live Rooms, Wrexham' becoming a sister venue to The Live Rooms in Chester after a significant upgrade to the interior decor of the venue which will include creating an entirely new room.

A spokesman for the club said: “With the new layout, we’re offering an entirely new experience. The venue will now become three spaces, all linked but with their own unique atmosphere.

"The new spaces will boast a wide selection of international drinks and include a dedicated cocktail bar, a brand new seated bar area as well as multipurpose nightclub and live spaces.

"In line with what people have come to expect from The Live Rooms brand, we’ll be catering for a thoroughly modern nightclub experience as well as revealing an exciting programme of high profile live entertainment in the build up to the official opening night.“

The Live Rooms, Wrexham will officially open on Saturday, October 13. Visit www.theliverooms.com for more information.
